Ending Abortion in Mississippi

Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant signed a bill into law in April 2012 that could potentially end abortion in the state through a technicality that requires all abortion providers to be board-certified obstetrician-gynecologists and to have admitting privileges at an area hospital. No other state requires providers to be an OB/GYN. The bill could close the state's only abortion provider, Jackson Women's Health Organization, making the state the first where no abortions can be performed since 1973's Roe v. Wade decision.
