Abstinence Before Contraception in Wisconsin

The Republican-led Wisconsin Senate voted on party lines in early November 2011 to pass a bill that demands that teachers stress abstinence as the only reliable way to avoid pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. They will also have to teach the benefits of marriage. The bill would overturn a ban on abstinence-only education in schools that the Democrats passed the previous year.
